A well planned bathroom is every home owner’s dream. Redoing your bathroom can take some time and effort. There are ways for not to waste money for materials that is not appropriate. Here are 5 materials to avoid installing in your bathroom:

  1. Wall Paper

A bathroom is a high steam area. Remember that wallpapers start to peel in a few years. Taking down wallpapers even use steam for an easier uninstallation. If your bathroom is not utilized very often then maybe installing wallpapers won’t be that bad. But if you use a specific bathroom often and would prefer that smooth wall finish, consider using a solid vinyl wall covering instead.

  1. Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring is affordable, but might as well use it in another room. Water is not compatible with a laminate floor. Even a single drop can sip in and destroy the flooring causing to peel, swell, expand, and warp. One alternative for this is linoleum which is also affordable and eco-friendly.

  1. Slippery or Glossy Tile or Stone

Slippery floors won’t be a good idea for a comfortable bathroom. Stone floors, polished tiles, and ceramic tiles can be too slippery when wet. It is better to choice slip resistant surfaces to avoid accidents.

  1. Wall-to-Wall Carpet

Carpets are not for bathrooms. Mold and mildew can build up on the surface can cause health issues. Plus the ick factor is an understatement. It is true that carpets can give that cozy touch. Consider adding fluffy mats but remember to wash it REGULARLY.

         5.  Yellow Paint

Yellow does not reflect well in the mirror. It gives you that weird feeling.

Be especially wary of yellow or other colors that contain yellow — even neutrals — as yellow can feel brash in a bathroom, and you won’t like what you see in the mirror. Instead, opt for grays with a hint of green or blue, which can feel spa-like.
